2025/26 Back-to-School Preps – Media Opportunities

 

The first day of school for Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students is Monday, August 11, 2025, and staff Districtwide are busy getting ready to kick off the 2025/26 school year.

We invite media outlets to join us in covering a variety of events that showcase new programs, services and initiatives across the BCPS. These opportunities provide a behind-the-scenes look at what’s new for students and families, along with access to District leadership and staff.

What’s New for Lunch?
Coral Glades High School, 2700 Sportsplex Dr., Coral Springs, FL 33065

Join BCPS Food and Nutrition Services staff for a special tasting event featuring some of the delicious new menu items that will be available in school cafeterias this year.

  • Interviews: BCPS Food and Nutrition Services staff
  • B-roll: Opportunities for media to sample various new food items – from Tortellini, Pastelitos and Bono Bites to the new Broward Bowl! This event gives a sneak peek at what families can expect in the new school year.

Back-to-School Teacher Preparations Hit High Gear  

Capture the energy and anticipation as teachers return to classrooms to prepare for the new school year.  Media interested in covering teacher preparations should email bcps.pio@browardschools.com to be assigned a school location and time.

School Bus Drivers Hit the Road for Dry Runs of Their New Routes

What’s New at Silver Shores STEAM Academy K–8
Silver Shores STEAM Academy K–8, 1701 S.W. 160th Ave., Miramar, FL 33027

Join us for a preview of the school’s new STEAM program as it transitions to a K–8 learning environment. The program offers cutting-edge experiences in science, technology, engineering, aviation and math (STEAM), featuring a new STEAM lab, 3-D printers, robotics and more.

  • B-roll: New 3-D printers and students assembling their new VEX robots for the upcoming school year, plus students will explore new augmented reality software.

School Staff Introduced to New CrisisAlert™ Badges
Coral Cove Academy of the Arts, 5100 S.W. 148th Ave., Miramar, FL 33027               

The District’s Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness Department will distribute CrisisAlert badges to staff and provide hands-on training on the new emergency alert system. This innovative tool is designed to enhance real-time response and improve overall safety on school campuses.
